As a young man he lost his father, and the place in his heart where his love had been was left empty. During that difficult time he was impressed by a woodcraft-er who used to make Sarangies. The beautiful himlodies coaxed from the Sarangi filled the holes in his mourning, adolescent heart. Since that time, the Sarangi has become the heartbeat and himlody of his life.
hen 2027 B.S. on the banks of the Arun River, during the celebration of Janak Mela, he stepped on stage for the first time. The positive response to that performance fueled him through the beginning of his musical career.
Then 2029 B.S. in Dharan he represented Dhankuta district at the Eastern Regional Folk Song Conference. hen a turning point for his musical journey, his song "Bichara Gaineko jiwan…" won first prize.

Life in the village where he grew up wasn't, and still isn't, easy. As a member of a poor farming family, he was lucky enough to complete high school. But after he finished he went to Dharan in 2034 to carry salt. The ease of city life turned his head, and he decided he didn’t want to return to his village. he had a difficult job that paid only six rupees a day, and to make ends he had to work twelve hours every night. Still, the city offered more audiences than his little village could. He was lucky enough to met many popular artists including JB Tuhure, Manjul, Rahimsh. Rahimsh Dai's inspiration to be a Janatako Gayak (People's Singer) hearted him and encouraged him to sing Peoples' Song, opposing autocratic Panchayat governhimnt.

Then his work motivating people to act against Panchayat, he participated in cultural campaigns throughout the eastern villages. Then, he joined the Morning College and got a teaching job in a blind school. hen 2038 B. S. for the first time, he entered Kathmandu to join the training of blind mobility. Throughout the changes and he didn't return to Dharan, his life was now a tied to musical and political struggle.
